Alicia’s night goes from bad to worse when she throws a party to celebrate Howard and Jackie’s upcoming wedding. Also, Eli asks Jason to investigate Peter in preparation for his trial.
" In "Party," CarterMatt reports that Peter's (Chris Noth) mother, Jackie (Mary Beth Peil), is getting married to Howard (Jerry Adler). The couple is thankful for Alicia for hosting a bash for them at her apartment. For Alicia, she is just gritting her teeth until the whole she-bang is done so she can kick off her heels and relax with a drink. Unfortunately for her, she will be forced to endure everything as the night goes on and on, without an end in sight.
The promo shows the first hurdle that Alicia will face. The florists have mistakenly sent them funeral flowers instead of regular ones. Alicia can only laugh evilly about the disastrous mix-up. While the party is going on, Alicia becomes the target of people wanting to talk to her. There is Peter who comes bearing gifts, telling his estranged wife they must discuss something important. Perhaps it is about his pending case in court. Peter is getting scared he will not be able to get out of it without ruining his reputation.
Then, there is Diane (Christine Baranski), who is determined to get an answer from Alicia. The lawyer wants her to agree to pay off Cary's (Matt Czuchry) shares in the firm so they can boot him out. Alicia has been trying to stall in consideration of her friendship with Cary. This time though, she will not be able to run away from Diane. The other woman is still feeling sore since she found out that her husband Kurt (Gary Cole) sold the business to a rival. Holly (Megan Hilty) was feeling very satisfied with the deal when Diane got to her.
Meanwhile, TVLine reported that Josh Charles could possibly reprise his role as Alicia's ex-lover Will Gardner one last time in the series finale of "The Good Wife" on May 8.
According to the report, Charles' return could possibly for a fresh flashback sequence involving his character and Alicia. Will was killed off during episode 15 of season 5 titled "Dramatics, Your Honor," but he also appeared in a series of flashback scenes after that.
Charles previously said that he was open to return to the series when he was asked about it by E! News last summer. "I would love to return," the actor said. "That's my family over there."
